Default air conditioner filter? 04 accord

Hi

I ask a mechanic i usually go to. He told me he doesn't change the air conditioner filter.

Is this filter easy to change or is it a necessary. As my air conditioner seem to be cold enough. It has 40 thousand miles on it as I got this car used.

Thanks

There were two air filters I changed... it was easy but I had to remove the glove box area. It was really dirty...black w/ leaves. I have 160k miles and I doubt it was ever changed

Yes..

I was able to change the air filter near the engine..

Does Removing the glove box require any wires to be taken off?

thanks

on my 97 accord you have to unscrew the hinges on the bottom and there is a cable supporting it on the door side that must be unscrewed.

On the 2004 Accord that filter is very easy.

Open the glovebox & empty it. Unclip the little strut so the glovebox can hinge way down - upside down. You don't have to remove the glovebox, just let it hang upside down on it's own hinge.

Behind where the glovebox WAS, is the black plastic air ducts. There's a cover that snaps out to reveal the cabin air filter. Slide it out...
