Default Tire Revolutions

I have owned a 2000 Accord EX V6 for about a year now. I have noticed that the speedometer is fast by about 5-7 mph at highway speeds. The tire size on the car are factory size (205-65 R15). I suspect that the revolutions setting in the computer have been changed for whatever reason in the cars history. It has about 120k miles on the car and I have not other problems with it.
Can someone tell me how to set the revolutions in the computer or speedo so I can check it or reset it, please?

Scott

I believe all honda speedometers are off by about +/- 5 mph.

I've noticed this on mine as well. Radars are always picking me up at 4-5 mph less than my speedometer says.

Speedometer reading high is very common. I don't think the rev/mile is actually a setting that can be adjusted.

In a lot of places (especially Europe) carmakers face really serious fines if the speedometers read even slightly low. So they're careful not to get too close to that line.

don't forget, some of those radar signs may not be calibrated when you drive by them.

although, I will agree that i have the same problem in my accord.

a friend with a radar gun is going to help me do some testing mainly so i can figure out the distance between a radar gun and my detector based on intensity readings.

I actually noticed a slight diff. on my '92 civic before and after I got new tires (same size) thanks to almost no tread on the old ones. It's possible that the radar speed signs I was going off of were wrong or calibrated differently from when I drove by them before and after the change, hard to say for sure but w/ relatively new tires my speedo was only reading about 2-3 mph over at 35 and was off by less at lower speeds.

My tires are nearly at stock spec, but my Nuvi shows ~4 mph slower than the speedo.

My friend back in highschool had a Ford Crown Victoria with the P51(police interceptor package)

It had a certified calibration logo on the speedo, so maybe find one of those and see for sure??
