Default snow tires

Is it worth buying the snow tires that they sell @ Sam's Club/Costco/BJ's for like around $40.. i'm looking for some that won't slip and have good traction in the snow. Are the stock ones any good in the winter? I have yet to experience them since I just got my '02 Accord.. more info.. thanks

The stocks aren't too bad, but if you have to commute to work I would get some snow tires. If you want buy a package deal through tirerack that comes with steel wheels and tires together.

Do you have a I4 or V6, cause I got some wheels with some studded snow tires that'll fit I4's that'll be great for the winter and better looking than Steelies. I can hook you up with some new snow tires too from my friends shop.

It could be a good investment. I dont know what the streets are like in NH or the average snowfall there but you gots to spend money to protect your investment. It wont hurt your car if thats what your concered about. I have 'em on my car in the winter time.

That'd be a waste of money. Your stock tires will do fine in the winter as long as it isn't really harsh (avg of 150+ inches/year).

The only season you should have different tires on is spring/summer/fall...high performance tires will give you AMAZING benfits in handling (does more than lower springs/struts IMO), and very good benefits in acceleration and deceleration.

The rims will fit then. I want to get rid of these cause they are taking up space so $100 for rims and the tires. The tires will probably be ok for this winter, but I would replace them in January or so when the snow gets worse.

As far as snow tires go, there are cheapy ones and there are the Blizzack type. The ones I'm getting are going to run me like a $125 each cause they are performance H rated snow tires. A regular set of good tires will cost around $80-90 each. You could go with the pep boys ones for cheap, but I rather have a good tire.

I suggest you check out tirerack.com and look for snow tires in your size. They have reviews and comparisons. The prices they have are very low comapared to street prices. Generally I add about $30 a tire to have an idea on what it costs locally.

The way I justify snow tires, is that your going to have to replace the stock tires eventually. The snow tires will make the stocks last longer and you'll have confidence driving in the snow.

02RSXTYPES- Up here in NH it generally snows bad enough where it warrants snow tires if you drive to work everyday. The stocks are ok though if you don't drive far in storms or don't get a lot of snow. The other reason for the tires is ice, the tires that I'm buying and what I would reccomend is to get the Blizzak type tires that give ice traction.

No, I haven't. Check out the reviews on tirerack would be my best guess.

You don't have to buy wheel covers, but it may look a little nicer. I would go to Honda and buy some hubcaps from them if you want.

The rims I got would also be nicer than hubbies. The only reason I don't use them is cause I have another set of 94 EX wheels.

We have Dunlop Winter Sports M3's ($100 each mounted and balanced) on the RSXTypeS and love them. They are V speed rated. Went with the stock size 205/55/VR16 and mounted them on our stock rims. Winter tires are definitely worth having.
Have seperate tires and rims for the end of April through the end of October.
