Default Problems With My New Starter

having a problem with my NEW starter i think when i tried to start it it turnsover slowly and then when i tried to do it again it wont turn over at all...so i kept on tryin still no start...so i attached a cable wire to my friends to mine and i tried to start it the start cranked over slowly but a little then stopped so i tried it again and it wont turnover again...any answers?

Check the battery voltage with a meter.
If the voltage is around 12V, then recheck the wires at the terminals and the big wire on the starter to be sure they are clean and tight. Make sure the small wire is attched firmly, but if it tries to turn over, that one sounds like it's on there.
