Herb Chambers Honda Sucks!!!!
I just went in for a "Major Tune Up" at my dealership instead of going to
my regular mechanic. Well, they charged me $400 for fluid change
(brake, trans, oil), new spark plugs, and an alignment. On top of that
they wanted $600 to change my timing belt. They didn't even touch the
other ignition parts or flush the coolant. I went to my mechanic to
replace my ball joints (they were making noise) and he said they didn't
do anything. I've been going to my mechanic for about 6 years and 2 cars.
He hires Honda techs from dealerships and he runs a clean shop.
Well, my mechanic changed my timing belt and water pump for $300 along
with what should have been done and he told me he's seen many people
get screwed by the dealerships over priced "Major Tune Up". I called other
dealerships and the same service at the same price includes all ignition parts
replaced and a lot more. Expensive lesson. Never go to Herb Chambers car
dealerships, they are a bunch of jerks, this is the second time I had to deal
with them and both times they screwed me. Expensive lesson.
Oh and :madfawk: :madfawk: Herb Chambers Honda :madfawk: :madfawk:
I've heard bad stuff about them but didn't know their service department
was that bad. Don't go to Herb Chambers on Commonwealth Av. in Boston
if you value your sanity.

Commonwealth in Lawerence treats me very well, I was promised to get my oil change in a certian time, they unfournately didn't. They didn't charge me for the oil change, I was shocked! A dealership give away something for free? They service showed me again.

I almost got my car from them, they are real nice, just a lot further away than commonwealth. Do you ever take your car up to the dragway? Do you know if there are any accord clubs in MA?

some dealers to avoid for service:
colonial honda in glendale, ca - clean shop, but lousy managers, expensive
pasadena honda in pasadena, ca - forgot to put oil my my friends tranny (arbitration to rebuild), messed up his ignition switch recall fix
decent dealer service:
goudy honda in alhambra - pricey, but they honor other's coupons
norm reeves super store in LA - ranked high by bbb
dont forget to ask for your old parts back (to make sure they were replaced) and check your dipsticks and fluid levels. also check for dings, scratches. dont EVER sign a waivier if your car has aftermarket parts. they wont be liable for ANY damage to your car.
**edit** make sure that they dont charge you for services that you didnt ask for!

I had bad experiece at Herb Chamber Honda on Comm. Ave. too. if you live in Boston, I suggest you try Honda Village at Newton Corner, just off mass pike. Or you can go to Cambridge Honda which is close to Alewife T. I have been to both and both are better and cheaper than Herb Chamber on Comm Ave. I like cambridge honda little better. Anyhow, the Herb Chamber Honda close to Burlington Mall is actually ok. I went there a couple times last year for the oil seal recall and some brake jobs when I was working in that area.
But don't go to Herb Chamber Honda on Comm. Ave. They suck!
Blikkem, where is you regular mechanic at? I want to try him out.

In Western New York
Stay away from Lia Honda (formerly Honda Village) in Clarence, NY. They have a reputation of always telling you that your brakes are worn and you need to replace them. I had 70% wear remaining. They also incorporate add ons in the recommended service schedules that are not indicated in the Honda manual.
Don Davis Honda, Amherst, NY has the best Honda mechanics in the area. Their prices are fair and their service department outstanding. They follow the Honda recommended service intervals to the T with no add ons! Their parts department also has a huge selection of Honda Aftermarket parts.

Glad I'm not the only one.
My mechanic is Advance Auto Center, 320 Watertown St. Newton. Their ph# 617-964-2886. They are reasonably priced and I've never had to fix something twice with them.
