Default Defrost

Its finally winter here in Florida.
Having some heavy frosts.
But my problem is that the heater wont switch from regular vents to the defrost ones by the windshield.
In fact, it wont switch to floor or anything else.
Sometimes they will after a couple weeks, but i dont have time to wait for that.
Help please?

depending on the model year or your car the air diverter is either a manual control system, or a motor driven system. If its the motor driven system the only real way to address it (that i know) is to see in the interface isnt working or replace the motor assembly that drives the air diverter, its deep inside the dash behind the radio, towards the bottom, its painful to get to.

Its a 2000 Accord EX.

If its the motor system then, it wouldn't be a job for me.
Don't have much experience at all.

I believe your 2000 would have the motor-driven system.

It's motor driven.

My guess would be the circuit board behind the climate controls actually...that went out on my old car (98 Accord).

Well theres good news.
The first time i started the car this morning, it was the same.
But the second time, i hit the defrost button and it switched over.
No more ice.
So as long as i dont move it off of defrost, it will stay there.

I'm almost positive it's the circuit board...try giving it a smack next time it doesn't work.

Had a similar problem with my 98 EX and it was the Mode Control Motor. Mine would groan evey time I turmed on the climate control system.
