Default fog light cover chipped

I have 2k2 accord coupe with factory fog lights. The left side plastic cover was chipped prolly by a rock on the freeway, i asked honda how much to replace that cover. They said I had to get the entire unit with the bulb and everything, which is $160!!
My bulb is totally fine, it's just the crack on the cover....
anyone know if there's replacement available somewhere?
thanks.

do you by any chance mean the glass on the light?? last I knew they werent plastic due to the small size and the high heat.

You can get a glass repair kit... JCWhitney sells them and i'm sure they can be found at auto parts stores... its for repairing chips in windshields... but it will work on all glass.

Another trick is to use super glue and a hair dryer.

I think the cheapest way is just to use some silicon window sealant if the crack isn't too big.

I should remind you guys that fog lights get HOT... much more so than headlight housings. Super glue and silicon will melt away - as will glass repair sealent. You need to replace the lense. Check with one of the online Honda parts dealers. If you can find the P/N, you should be able to get a (cheap) replacement.

Try and take it apart like mebers do to clear their headlights by baking them. You can then trace an outline and make a cutout out of Lexan which can be bought at harware stores. Thats what some TL members have been doing with good results. That glass is thin and so low to the ground. Breaking it is practicaly a matter of when, not if. l
