Default K&n

Ok, so I picked up a K&N cone filter the other day and removed the air filter with it's box and stuck the cone on the end of the air tube. The only problem is, it's really tight in between the ignition and other wiring and stuff. I wanted to move it a little further out, behind the battery more so I went to 3 hardware store and couldn't find any rubber tubing 2.5 inches wide to extend this. What the hell?where can I get some of this or what can i replace the entire tube with?

another question, what can i get for a heat shield to put in between the engine and the filter?
