Default 1998 Accord EX CV boot

While changing my brake pads today, i noticed that my right CV boot is torn pretty bad. I dont know how long it has been like this, but there is still a decent amount of grease in the boot. My question is this: is it safe to just replace the boot? The joint itself doesn't seem to be damaged. Or should i play it safe and change the axle?
Thanks

You're only going to save about $50 for just the boot....I got my half-shaft replaced and it cost $250 at a shop, and it came with a 1-year warranty....I would pony up and go big

But I also drove around on a bad axle for about 6-months (60 miles a day) and nothing extreme ever happened
