Default 6th Gen Auto transmission

I've been having problems with my 2000 Accord EX 4cyl auto tranny w/ 155K. I replaced the linear solenoid, as someone suggested. Unfortunately, that didn't fix it. The transmission still slipped terribly during 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, and on downshifts.

The transmission would either fail, or need a rebuild. So, I tried Trans-X by CRC industries, purchased at Wal-mart for $5. I was hesitant to put it in, because everyone says only Honda ATF. I put a bottle in last night. Today, the transmission is working nearly flawlessly. It still slips a bit on full throttle down shifts, but just barely. I'd almost forgotten what a proper shift felt like. Complete satisfaction, I assure you.

I don't know if the fluid will do damage long-term. I think contamination may have been the source of the problem, because this stuff contains solvents. I decided to share in case anyone else is having a similar problem

Damage is already done...I'm surprised you got that much out of the transmission already

I'm not so sure, time will tell. I don't think any permanent damage was done. I think there was a contaminant gumming up the works, and this stuff removed it.

i had the same problems at first with my 01 accord coupe transmission, then i went to auto zone poor in some transmission crap that suppose to smooth out the shifting and crap, just like what you did..come to find out around 2-3 months later my transmission gotton worse and then a week or two later my transmission blew on me. but the lucky thing is that my model had a extended warranty on transmission to 7 years or 100,000. so they gave me a new transmission.. true fact, flush your transmission and buy new honda transmission fluid and it should be a bit better...learn from my mistakes

good thing they' didn't check that u put that "transmission crap" in ur car.
other wise u'r warranty would have been void.

so if u have a warranty, dont mess around w/ it.
