Hey people. does anyone know what's wrong with my car.. well the check engine kept on comin on ..i brought it to Autozone for a diagnostic test..the read say's that i need a new egr valve.. i bought it and replace it...also Autozone employee reset my check engine light.. bout six hours later ..it came back on..if any one can help i would be thankfull!!

You probably just needed to clean it out not replace it. Did the same code come up? Did you replace the item with OEM?

 

You wasted your money on the EGR valve. You need to clean out the EGR ports on the intake manifold and cylinder head, do a search.

 

yep yep..... its not the egr valve thats messed up.... i mean if the light comes up then the egr valve is doing its job .... the problem is in the intake manifold carbon build up... u need to get it cleaned... thats what happened to me but it really doesnt do anything harmful besides waste more gas... what i used to do when i had that problem is i trned on the car waited till it warmed up then turn it off and then on again ... the light wont come up... but get it fixed

 

What was the trouble code? I dont think they had a flow code in 97. It's probably a vacuum or electrical egr control screwed up.
