Default Oil leaks, ugh!

95 Accord EX-L V6

After getting an oil change, I notice my car is leaking oil for the first time. It's getting on my nerves...

Took it back to the mechanics and they tighten if needed, anything that would be suspected of causing the leaks. They even changed the oil drain washer to see if it was that. They also told me it could be my oil pan gasket, or the new oil filter itself.

I go home after they 'adjust' it, and i park and leave my car on the driveway, with a sheet of cardboard underneath to 'catch' any oil leaks... I check back at 11pm so I can put my car in the garage, and notice one spot on the cardboard...

What's the real cause? If it didn't leak before, why is it doing it now? What would be the most likey suspect of the leaks?

Hmmm, my first guess would be that they didn't screw the new filter on tight enough -- that would be an explanation of why it never happened before. But if they truly did tighten everything, then I don't know.

hmm, i was going to say the oil drain seal but you even changed that. Mine is leaking very very very slowly after my last oil change. Its the washer but I haven't had time to go back home to change it and I watch the oil. Wipe it clean and watch where the oil is coming from.

if it never happened b4 and they checked everythign and it seems to be okay then its the filter. the same thing happened to me and i almost replaced my oil pan (big $$$) since they said i might have hit something under my car (since its so low) i cleaned out under my car and parked it up on some stands to see where the leak was and behold it was right from the filter itself. i went back to the place acted the fool and they gave me another oil change and filter guess what no more leaks

Yeah, I suspect the filter too... I will call them and see if they can check the filter... I too don't want to spend big bucks and it probably won't even fix it... Totally cannot be the gasket, because if it was, it would be leaking even before the oil change... It can't be the drain plug, because they changed it, and also the old plug never leaked before either. The only thing left is the filter itself...

Thanks for the responses, and more appreciated...

also mention that the flter might have a bad rubber seal. I bought a filter once with a "cracked" seal. But it was before i put it on the car thank God. I took it back and the store replaced it. It mgiht be that. A tiny slit means it can leak very very minute amounts of oil.

Hope everything works out ok,

Dave

when you put a new filter on you're supposed to put a small amount of oil on the seal so that it seals properly. my guess is that they didn't.

Thats why your suppose to do simple things such as oil changes by your self. I never let anybody touch my ride. Big wuss has to pay some one to do it. You deserve it
