Default Both brake lights out

Just found out this morning that both brake lights aren't coming up, but the center high-bar light works ok. Dash indicator that usually comes up when the bulb is bad is not on.
Turn signals and other lights are ok as well.

I will have to deal with this after work today, would like to hear some ideas where to start looking first to get this resolved faster.

The car is 99 accord coupe.

I would try bulbs first. If their are 2 wires running to the bulb socket one is hot one is ground. On some cars there is 3 wires running to the bulb socket 2 are hot (one hot for brakes one hot for taillights) and one is ground.

If bulbs do not work do you have a digital malty meter?

The brake switch is probably fine if the high mount works.

first chk fuse # 9 , 7.5 amps under dash driver's fuse box

if fuse is ok go to the back, get a test lite and with brake pedal applied at the brake lite socket ,chk to see if you get power at the green wire and ground at the black wire,
if you DO NOT co
uld be a bad brake failure sensor or wiring issue

if you get both power and ground it is bad bulbs .

the high mount brake lite has different power and ground source that is why it works ,,
