Changing ATF on '99 Accord, would like some info
This is my first time changing transmission fluid on an automatic. After running the car for a few minutes, I've heard that I begin by loosening the bolts on the tranny drain pan and letting the fluid flow out. I plan to replace the filter and the gasket. I would then proceed to place the pan in place and tighten the bolts. How much torque should I put on those bolts?
I would then fill through the dipstick with Honda ATF, 2.5quarts I beleive for the 4-cyl. And after that, check the fluid level in all shift positions.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks guys

Get a tranny crush washer, and warm up the tranny fluid. Put the bolt, let the fluid drain. Wipe the bolt clean, put it back in with the new crush washer. Refill through the dipstick hole. That's it. It's easier than an oil change. Do it every 15K to play it safe. Cheap insurance. My 2000 EX has 152,600 miles, and the tranny is slipping really badly. I attribute it to infrequent changes.
