Default f23a1 swap wont start

i have a 98 dx accord. i threw a rod in the old motor so i swaped a f23a1 into it. The f23a5 that comes stock in them is non-vtec, whereas the new motor is. I ran the wires for the 3 wires for the vtec and the knock sensor wire correctly but it will not start. If i plug my old computer in it will start but run pig rich and have no power. The motor i put in it is from an automatic accord, and mine is a 5spd. why will my old computer start the motor but the new one will not? I even got a 5spd computer for the f23a1.

the computer is from a car at a junkyard that was in working order when it was pulled from the car... and i don't think it is the imobilizer because the motor will turn over and kinda half fire one or two times then just keep spinning. the only difference i can find is the plug on the distributor. The old motor had a different distributor that had the firing order start 180 degrees different than the new one... I spliced the wires up right on the new plug for the distributor too. Any ideas? I may try getting a new wiring harness from another 98 ex 5spd and hooking it all up.

What you described is exactly what the immobilizer system does.

is there any way to bypass the immoblizer? I mean, if people can steal them, it must be possible...
