Hey guys,

My brakes are constantly squeaking the first few time I use them during the day.
It's terribly annoying and I don't think its normal. Its not really a grinding sound but it does sound pretty darn bad.

If I want to have my brakes done, and I'm getting new wheels soon anyways-
do you guys suggest a certain type of brake or somewhere to get it done at?

This is my first car and my first brake job- suggestions are welcomed.

You can do them your self and save use the search button up top. I like oem (original equipment) pads or ceramic pads.

 

Wow, already? How many miles do you have? I still have the original 8 1/2 year old pads and shoes on my 99.

I second OEM brake materials. They’ll perform perfectly without any noise.

 

Its not that odd that you need a pad change after 3+ years. Its simple to do it yourself... OEM style pads will work fine for you.

If you have rear drums, then its a tad more difficult...but still able to be done in your driveway. Just go to Autozone/Advance/Napa ect and get the $20-30 pads they offer.


Oh and gsd Dan...I'd say Wow, you still have the original pads? 8.5 years old? Prob couldn't hurt to swap them out.

 

Go to www.helminc.com, buy a manual, and buy some pads from manchester honda. It'll cost you all of $100 for everything. Might want to replace the rotors too if you get vibration.

Yeah, and to think 80% of my driving is in town too. It must be my driving style since I find myself repeatedly laughing at people who race up to stop signs and red lights. The worst gas mileage I’ve ever pulled in 8.5 years is 28 MPG.

I check the front pads every time I rotate the tires (every 7,000 mi) and they aren’t even halfway worn yet, lol. The rear drums have never even been off the car since they were installed at the factory
