Default Problems with Accord CV circlip

I have also been attempting a CV half axle replacement for my Honda Accord ('92). After a headache of rusted nuts, I got the bad half axle out, but I can't get the remanufactured one into the transmission all the way. It's binding up with about 1/2" to go, and I figure it's hitting at the circlip. Two of us spent the afternoon trying to slam it into place with no luck.

If I take the circlip off it slides in perfectly (but will fall out on it's own).

It looks like this may have plagued a few others...has anyone solved this one yet?

Did I get the wrong size circlip from the remanufacturer? Can I get just a circlip at a local auto store? Am I doing something else completely wrong?

posted in the wrong section.

you need toface the opening of the clip downwards to the ground. then hammer the end of the axle in with the axle locked up straight. should pop right in.
