Timing Belt for years or miles
On the 6th gen accords, Honda's 105k/7yr maintenance has a timing belt replacement in it. I'm at 7 years but only 95k, and the 90k maintenace was just a year ago. Can the timing belt wear out with age or only with miles?

if your car is 9-10yrs it is time for timing belt no matter what miles you have on it. a little while back the ac belt broke on my friends 1997 acura with just 60+k miles. took it to the dealer and they said he was lucky the other belts didnt brake and especially since the ac belt got stuck between the other belts heh.
funny thing.. why ur ac dont work? idk. hmmm pop the hood. whoa I see broken belt and we are 100miles from home on a sunday heh

94 honda accord original timing belt
hey,
I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX 2.2 and believe it or not it has the same timing belt on it as when it was brand new. Its also been through a major accident which rendered the vehicle as totalled in 2003. Since then the vehicle was reconditioned, rebuilt, and painted and still has the same belt. The car is going on 180-190K miles and has very few issues.
Most people think that you have to change your timing belt at 90-100k miles but ya know... Ive had several cars that go over 150k miles with the same timing belt, never replaced, and never had a problem..
Now on the off chance that your belt snaps and your engine seizes then ur fu*ked. Given its better to replace it when theres nothing wrong, rather than to wait till something does happen. But dont panic when ur mechanic says, "You should consider replacing this." and your only at 90k miles. Unless he says you have massive cracks in it or are missing teeth on the belt then ask him to show you to make sure your not getting screwed. Typical timing belt and water pump replacement will cost you about 600 bucks at a typical shop, so consider wisely.
Comments? get back to me.
