Default STUMPED - heater won't work, keeps blowing fuse

I jump-started my mother's dead car today with my 1995 Accord EX, and the next time I drove my car, noticed the heat wasn't working. The entire Heater control panel in the car doesn't work at all - no light for the heat flows or fresh air/recirculate air button or anything. Also, my rear window defroster doesn't work.

I checked the fuses for both rear defrost and Heater Control unit. The Under-hood fuses were fine for both. The under-dash fuse for the Heater Control relay was blown, so I replaced that 7.5 amp fuse. When I started up the car, I saw the lights for the air flow and fresh/recirc. air buttons light up briefly, and within a second or two they went off. Immediately I pulled out that fuse and it was blown. I did this once more, and blew another brand new fuse.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there something I'm overlooking? And why wouldn't the rear window defroster work if the fuse is OK for that?? I'm stumped! Any ideas???

What kinda car does your mother have? I assume you have the 4 cyl model and generally when you jump start a vehicle it should be of same cylinders but a 4 cyl shouldn't jump a V6/V8, ect.....try disconnecting the battery for a lil while and reconnect and see if that helps.

Well I know that some cars recommend not jumping a dead bigger engine battery with a smaller engine battery however the other way around is fine. I always follow the same/same rule if unless the dead batter belongs to the smaller engine. That's what I was taught, I know some cars aren't allowed to be "jumped car to car" at all like the new BMW's I think. :hsdunno:

I'm sure there's others that heard of this. h:

Funny you should ask - my mother's car is another 95 Accord EX. Nearly identical to mine. It was my sister's car, because my sister bought the same car as mine after I bought mine, since she loved it so much, and she has sinced "handed down" the car to my mother. So I don't know if that makes a difference...

Well you must of had mad vtak.

No, but seriously I wouldn't of done that personally. I know there's a reason why but can't find it. It's on the net somewhere.

As for the heater problem, that's wierd. I've been thinking of what it could be but can't come up with nothing. Hopefully someone else will have something to add.

Hey Jerz and Jani, thanks so much for your input. Jerz, I'm gonna try disconnecting the battery for a while and then reconnecting it, and THEN replacing the fuse to see if that works. I appreciate your suggestions. I know this is a tough one so I'm not expecting miracles, but if you have any other kind of experience that might relate, any info can only help me at this point.

So yeah, heater's still not working. Well the heat comes out of the vents very slowly, so the HEAT works, but the control unit for the fan, recirc. air, airflow, A/C - that whole unit isn't working. And also the rear defrost isn't working, even though the fuses for the rear defrost are fine.

Any other ideas? Thanks!
