Default 1996 Accord V6 auto trans

I heard from somewhere that the 4 cyl tranny and the v6 auto tranny are the same? Is it true? Thanks.

I doubt it, but maybe. I'm sure they have different gear ratios, but maybe like some of the tranny is the same. Why?

Nothing. Just curious thinking how the tranny handles the torque of the v6 when I heard that statement. Won't it break sooner than the one on a 4 cyl car? But I suppose if they put the same tranny on an Odyess then it is possible they also use it on a v6 accord.

I've heard enough people in the newsgroup saying swapping engines without new trannys, or verse visa, on their civics and crxs. So I think that is a good possibility, as long as both are made by Honda.

The 6th gen accord V6, 2nd gen TL/CL, 2nd gen Ody all use the same tranny. That much I know. You have a 5th gen accord V6...I think it depends on how different you mean. The ratios are different and the tranny is of course beefed up for the 6, but I think it's the same basic architecture. As you said, they're pretty much interchangeable.

ok, civic and crx,s and integras and and so on can switch engines w/o the trannies being switched because its the same basic engine, just variations

and the odyssey, and the tl cl, and the accord might have hte same kind of trans but not the same exact kind, some are 4spd and some are 5spd

now ur talking about i4 vs V6
no way they use the same transmission
