Default vtec solenoid problems

the past few weeks i've been noticing the engine bogging down around full throttle and in high rpm. i checked for a misfire and found one. that solved that problem.

i took it for another test run right after and noticed the engine was still bogging down, sounding as if i was letting off the throttle because the engine itself got quieter, then louder, then quiter and so on. I came to the conclusion the vtec solenoid is engaging and disengaging itself for some reason. so could this be the solenoid itself or is there some kind of system that controls it? how would i even go about replacing it?

Check your oil. VTEC uses oil pressure, and won't work correctly without proper oil pressure.

If it's the VTEC, you'll get a check-engine light. Read the code & tell us what it is.

If no CEL, this can be different things other than the VTEC.
