Default Idle problem...

I have a 98 Honda Accord and whenever i'm slowing down and come to a stop the rpms will drop down below 500 and then it will jump back up to about 900 and sometimes it's a little shaky. I think i may have an idea of what it may be, but i just would like to have another opinion about it and usually ya'll give good advice. Thanks

You could check these out:

idle speed screw set too low?

faulty idle air intake valve?

hose off (vacuum leak) or air leak (a bad gasket somewhere by intake manifold)?

defective throttle position sensor?

bad MAP sensor?

perhaps even the EGR valve

These are the most likely causes of your problems, if you are getting enough fuel and spark. Good luck.

damn, I was just gonna post the same problem with my 96 accord Lx, same problem come to a complete stop and shift to neutral and rpm drops down to 500 or so and it also shakes, although I found one of my spark plug cables disconnected and connected it and everything went back to normal, hope that was my problem
