Default Accord 98-02 Vs. TL 99-02???

I've got a 9000 dollar spending limit on my next car, and was planning on going to the auctions or whatever, just that I am worried because I would like the Accord because i Think it would be cheaper maintanance but Im just worried about both these cars and their infamouse transmissions.

What do you guys think?? And if i got the Accord I would prefer V6. TL is sexy but how are the parts priced compared to the ACcord?

define "parts".

Dealership service is a bit more at Acura. You're buying a premium brand, so you receive premium service, at a premium price.

If you're looking for exhausts and such, Comptech pricing is very similar across the board. Most parts prices are dependent on the engine / body style, not the name on the car.

Okay so forget the parts thing, Which would be more reliable in terms of overall reliability and the chances that I will have a transmission problem...

In other words which car will most probably have the transmission go out??

I think I've seen opinions that with the 6th gen Accord V6 its almost certain I will get a transmission problem, is this correct?

DO They both have bad transmissions???

they both have.

00-01 accords, and most 99-03 TLs now have a 105k warranty on the trannys.

i have a 98 v6, and my tranny shows no sign of failure.

every single Honda / Acura with the V6 engine (from that time period) used the same transmission.

Remember, you only hear the bad stories too. Again, automatic transmissions are issues among ALL cars too. Ever read about the Nissan Altima's? That'll make the Accord's look like a walk in the park.

So just go with whichever one??? I like both but Was thinking that the Acura would be too much out of my reach if i ever needed to fix anything wrong with it.

Im only 19 and I would hate to have to deal with repairs that were too expensive.

When I buy either car I would get it with no more then 85,000 miles on it.

So i guess my question is which do i get, I dont want a bad tranny in the long run.

Accord or Acura.....Also which years do I get should i avoid anything below 2000, since it wont have warrenty??

just buy a manual 5-speed LX or EX Accord 4cyl, there's d*** near nothing that breaks on those cars, especially the even lesser optioned LX models. No sunroof creaks either.

With a nice set of rims hardly anyone will tell and LX from an EX w/cloth.

The 5-speed isn't that much slower then the AT-v6. And a clutch is way cheaper then a new tranny anyday.
