it comes in new cars and you program your garge door opener to open from it. Its pretty nice. Both my mom's 02 PAssat and my Dads 02 Avalanche have them.

how do you put it up there?

I mean do you just screw it to the headliner or is there a bracket inside the headliner to hold it?

you'd have to run wires....and I think it might just screw up there with screws under the lights. Its a big transmitter so you have to run wires.....

well, the 94's didnt have a map light at all... so I origionally put a simple map light in there (the ones that come in the 95-97 ex's)... but I wanted more. So I got a hold of the Homelink panel... its a little larger than the plain map light, so I had to cut the headliner a little more than before... but after a few minutes I was able to pop the metal frame (bracket) inside the headliner, that holds it in place, then plug in the panel and screw the 2 screws into the metal frame... pop the lens on and im set to program it.

The wires are already running up the passenger side a-pillar from the factory... so I tapped off them for power and ground... now I just gotta hook up the diode isolated wires that I added from the main dome light, and the 2 map lights will come on when I open a door too. (the diodes allow current to flow in only one direction, when the main dome light comes on, it powers up the 2 map lights too, but once the door is closed, the map lights still operate independent of eachother like they normally do)

Yes, the lights work too! the lights and homelink work off the same power source.
