It's okay. Don't sweat the other guys telling you that you're too young to drive a new car. I've learned to drive and also been driving my dad's 1998 Lincoln Navigator until I got my Accord. And this was back in the day when the Navigator was new and nobody had one. Pulling up to gas stations and having people say "hey...nice car" feels pretty damn good, especially when you're 16 rolling a new Nav with chrome rims on it (the only problem is that i'm asian).

In between the Navigator and Accord, I drove a beater (1993 Ford Tempo, 86 hp, 3-speed automatic) for 3-4 months before I got (my parents got) my Accords. I was barely 16 when I got my sedan and then they bought a coupe three weeks later.

Anyway, $5000 seems a little too much. Look for a couple more quotes or shop around for the parts individually yourself. You can save yourself at least a grand IMO.

Jeez, you spoiled california kids =)

Man, it must be nice, I'm 21 now and I haven't driven a car newer than 8 years old since i started. . .

I agree with some of the other members though, its nice to have it if you can, I also think you should pass on modding anything until you've learned to drive competently. A couple of years of experience may save you a lot of dings on that 5,000 dollars worth of mods.

Jesus when I was 15 I didn't know what 5,000 dollars let alone 1,000 dollars looked like.

But you might just be one of those kids who plans all this stuff out and never does it cause you can't get all the money.

Dont spend your teenage years spending all your money on your car. Its not worth it.

Lemme tell you, the temptation is great sometimes. But parents keep you in line. I'm 18, and the $9,000 sitting in my savings account is crying to be blown on my ride. But I gotta be realistic. Maybe his uncle is gonna pay for his mods, too, since he already gave him the car!
