Rpm drops, car turns off
Hi, I have a honda accord ex auto 94, I'm running into a problem and I don't know what's causing it. Sometimes when I stop at a traffic light all of the sudden the rpm drops and then the car turns off. When I try to restart it right after, it has a hard time starting then turns off again. I have to wait for about 10 minutes then the car will start. This problems also happens when I turn off my car and try to turn it on again right away.
Can anyone help?

It has 2 positions, closed and open.
It's "closed" when the car is at normal driving speeds. (0 to 55)
It's "open" when the car is at highway driving speeds.
I'm guessing it is clogged, and is stuck in the "open" position. You're constanly cycling exhaust into your engine, thus bogging and killing it.
Can the car idle at all? If so, it's easy to check for a clogged EGR valve. It has a vacuum line going into it. While the car is idling, disconnect the line at the other end, wipe it off, and "apply vaccum" (ie., suck on it). The car should stall for the reasons e3NiNe described. If it doesn't stall, the valve is "probably" bad.

On the honda you can clearly hear the pump. How long does the pump run when you turn the switch?
Could be the fuel filter. Trash clogs filter, car turns off especially at low rpm's. Car sits, trash settles and drives fine. As soon as the trash loads it shuts down again.
