Default 94 Accord ignition lock

I have a 94 honda accord ex with a very strange problem...the key wont come out of the ignition. The only thing is it's a brand new key, brand new ignition lock. the very strange thing is that when my battery isn't hooked up the key comes out...if the battery is hooked up the key wont come out...does anyone have any ideas on this..

If it is an automatic this will apply if its a manual sorry i have no clue.

Yes their is a little solenoid that stops you from getting the key out if you are not in park.

So you just did a lock swap and got a new key any other mods or part replaced?Did you just take apart the shifter?

Dose your park light light up it may be and electrical problem. The car probably thinks you are not in park.

I've tried that...but I was working on my car at work and I think I might of figured it out...I'm almost sure it has something to do with the shifter...if I get the key out then it's really really hard to get my car to shift from park and as soon as it's out of park the key is stuck...I think it might be time for a new shifter.

You should not be able to get the key out if you are not in park this is normal. So if you park you car and leave it in d you car will not roll away and hit a bus full of kids. While you walk to the porn store with key in hand(joking).Molest cars have this safety feature it law now on an auto.

I am not shure what to do your case is a strange one.If a brake switch fails getting out of park is near impossible keep that in mind.

I bet the P light on the dash doesn't come on when the key doesn't come out usally more often when it's cold ..it's most likely the neutral safety switch in center console . or unplug the solonoid wire on the ignition lock (black plug) and the key will come out no matter what!
