Default Install 1990 ECU -- easy for noob?

The shop is charging $1100 to replace and install with factory ECU part #37820PT3A53. Its the holidaze and I really can't afford it. So, does anyone recommend any aftermarket computers? And how difficult is it to install? I'm fairly mechanically inclined

holy shit they better suck you off for that much.

installing an ecu is simply a matter of finding it (im not familiar with your car) unplugging it and plugging in the new one. what's wrong with your stock ecu in the first place?

LOL!!

Snoopy- my check engine light has been on for the longest... I changed my O2 sensor, didn't help. Thats what another shop said was the problem.

One day, driving the car sputters and stops running. I know that's pretty vague description, but they say my comp is fried.

pull the code yourself. it's not hard. if the ecu was fried the car probably wouldnt start at all.
