CV joint / Front Axle
is there any reason to fix the clanking sound other than just from annoyance...basically, will it f-up my car if left untouched. I've been VERY unsuccessful with CV Joint and front axle work.
Sorry to start a new thread, but most of these CV joint/Front Axle threads are...
"So my car is clanking when I accelerate through turns...why?"

If left untouched, the cv joint will break internally and the car will stop moving under it's own power. It's great if you like to be stranded somewhere.
An axle replacement is not that difficult and the dealer has quality reman. replacements for about $170.
BTW, when you do replace the axle, be aware of the difference between a reman. axle and a rebuilt axle.

get them fixed. most independents can do it fairly cheaply. cv axles and wheel bearings need to be replaced. they only get worse. some annoyances we can live with such as the constant interior rattles hondas have but cvs r important for yours and your passengers safety.
replacing both front axles and CVBoots, I was quoted at $430 parts and labor. This is from a Local Honda/Acura Mechanic.
Should I shop around more? I am not capable of doing this work myself.
Just for a little more reference, they quoted me $250 for VSS install and $150 for spark plugs, wires, dist cap. This work I am capable of doing myself. And can get parts for ~$100

Ever heard the phrase "penny wise dollar foolish"
Sometimes a good deal isn't the cheapest. The people of southwest Missouri use my services. Often I'm not the cheapest, but I have been working on Honda's since 1989 and know the product exceptionally well. Here's some comparisons you might find amusing:
Would you go to a brain surgeon who got his education through Phoenix Online?
Would you go to a podiatrist for a quadruple heart bypass?
Would you play the lottery if you knew you were going to win?
Finding someone to work on your Honda who specializes in them and knows what they're doing may cost a little more, but it PAYS IN THE LONG RUN as you usually don't have return trips for improperly installed items.
Headache-free is always worth it.

Yeah i have broken my front axle on my 2000 Honda Accord MT 4dr, i used to change oil at a local Honda dealership, and have friends that are mechanics there, unfortunately they don't have reman'd axles for this car, and a new one is 300$ but is well worth not dieing, plus they get a discount on it
