Default Accord Starting problem

3 days ago, it was pretty cold night, I tried to start my car and the car makes krrrrrrrrr...noise first. Then I tried the second time it started right up. I didn't have any problem in last 2 days. Again today in the evening it was pretty cold weather again....and my car did the same noise (krrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........) again. When I tried the second time, it started without any problem. My battery is kinda new ( 6 months old, not a cheap kind of battery). So, is this the sign of a bad starter or bad ignition switch? Any Idea..........?? Help me Please.

I searched the forum before posting

Default Krrrrrrrr....

Here's one for the ABC's file:

Sounds like a bad positive battery connection either on the battery or starter, or possibly a bad starter solenoid. If your Accord is a low-miler I'd check the connections first. ANY corrosional buildup anywhere needs to be cleaned, then re-checked the next cold opportunity.

With any problem on an electrical system, I tell people to start with the ABC's Check the Alternator, Battery, Connections. 70% of the time you'll solve most electrical problems, and even some driveability problems, right there.

Connection problems tend to worsen with cold weather.

could be ignition switch, starter, corroded battery cables,or loose battery clamps some other things too.

check for loose clamps and corroded cables before you replace any thing.

What year some accord have a igniting switch recall(call your dealer and have them do a vin check on you car you might get a free ignition switch).

sorry didnt me to repeat you ohs we both must have replyed at the same time

well, i checked the battery cables and everything seems fine to me. But I am not sure about alternator though. I don't know how to check alternator. Any idea what else could be the problem?

You probably have a bad ignition switch or starter then.If your alt went bad you would probably have a dead battery also.

car sit outside? it may take some time for it to start if its really cold. mine is that way. the battery connection to the starter can be pretty groddy since it sits so close to the ground. the owners manual tells u how to start the car in the cold weather. since i switched to a red top optima starting issues have reduced significantly. i have a 4th gen honda and the battery cables and connectors r a real pain.. one if the few thing i dislike about hondas.
