2.7 liter tachometer
Has anyone ever had this happen? Once in awhile the tach needle just drops momentarily from about 3000 rpm to 2500 rpm and back to 3000 rpm. It can do this a couple-three times, then seems to settle down.

Is this on an OEM or aftermarket tach?

Perhaps it is engaging the lock-up torque converter then unlocking it? On older cars it feels like another gear, as opposed to newer cars where it's barely noticeable. That would probably explain it.

I had a crack in my intake manifold gasket that cause the same thing to happen. The way that you can tell is if there car starts to make a loud whistling sound when you give it gas. Like an intake tube does, but a little louder. That caused my tach to jump around.

My car has been doing that for a while now. I figure it had to do with the ECU not correctly reading the fuel to air ratio. Does anyone notice this when coasting at 43-59 mph while driving.
