Default Wheel bearing replacement on 6th gen

I've heard that the wheel bearings on the 6th gen usually go shortly after 100K. I'm at 105K so I'm just sort of bracing for it, especially with the cold weather on the way. With my '93's pressed hubs, bearing jobs were definately not a DIY. How about with the 6th gen? The rotors were cake, are the bearings a possible DIY without any special equipment?

if you have a press you could do it.yes the rotors are cake but you have to press the hub out and then the baring and press them back together.

pain in the ass for sure.

I took mine to a shop because I wasn't about to deal with all the rusted together bolts. Best $60 I spent.

Just take it in. I wasn't going to mess with it either. Mind as well do both while you're at it.

If you wanna DIY, you can still remove the steering knuckles from the car & carry them into the shop. At that point, there's some parts stores than can press bearings for you.

Meh. Well, thanks for the head's up. Sounds like it's a shop job. You only paid $60 huh? That's not so bad. Either I was getting jipped or the 4th gen is a bigger job. I think I remember paying around $150-200 each when I replaced them on my old '93.
