Default 89 Accord high revving problems need info please

I have an 89 accord lx manual with 220,000 miles. the car runs flawless in the spring and summer time. but last winter and now this winter, when the weather gets cold my car will stay revved up at around 3000 rpms and sometimes will not go down. after driving the car is okay but when i'm stopped the car will go back and rev up. normally it will stay around 1000 rpm's and have a smooth sound and now to say again it is loud. i've heard it may be the choker (not sure what that is) anyone with insight please get back to me asap. thanks

what trim line do u have? do u have a carb or r u fuel injected? the choke could be stuck or need to be rebuilt if its got a carb. www.3geez.com may help. there r not a lot of 3rd gen. forums.

my buddie just swapped his intake manifold on his civic, and now he's having the same problems. We found out by spraying carb cleaner, or engine starter fluid, that he has a leak in the gasket. Thats my guess, but watch out for spraying explosive stuff like that, have a fire extinguisher ready. Vacuum leak!!

I have nothing to help, but I wanted to say I had the same problem on my 87 Accord. I just lived with it until the weather warmed up...and until I bought my 04 Accord.
