Default 95 V6 No start .... HELP

I've got a 95 with the 2.7 engine, cranks great, but will not start. I hear the fuel pump running when I turn the ignition to run, and checked for spark- spark looks good and hot. Mileage on the car is 136,000. I smell gas so perhaps it isn't fuel related??? The car is not setting the engine/MIL light, so I am guessing no codes have been set. Is this a fair assumption???

Hold it... I just have another update. Was looking somewhere else and noticed a mention of the A/T shift selector switch could cause this. Went out to the car, cycled the shifter mechanicsm and tried re-start. Engine cranked for a few seconds.... THEN IT STARTED and runs GREAT. Performed several stop/re-starts..... no sign of any problems. Huh?

Oh great...... an intermittent start condition. Does anyone know of any KNOWN trouble parts on this engine/year combo? This is the wife's daily driver and I don't really need to have a reliability problem on this car. Any/all guesses/troubleshooting approaches would be appreciated.
