Default ac bogging down the engine

i just bought a certified pre-owned '03 accord ex v6 6-speed. so far i love the car but i've noticed when driving with the ac on, the car will hesitate every 30 seconds or so, as though the ac is putting a lot of strain on the engine. it only lasts for a second or two and it feels like the car is driving through molasses for that second, then back to normal. this doesn't happen when the ac is off. does anyone know what the problem could be?

when you run your ac you put your engine under more stress then normal, you generaly loose 5 to 10 hp because your making you pullys harder to move

when you use your ac you put more stress on your motor because the underdrive shaft pully has more belts on it to turn, those resulting in a horsepower loss of 5 to 10 hp and a reduction of gas mileage

thanks for the reply. yeah i know the ac strains the engine, but this isn't just an overall loss of power, it's like something is cycling every 30 seconds or so and causing some sort of disturbaance on the engine, which only lasts for a second or two.

better get that check out, the lost of power from the ac in a v-6 should't even be noticeable if you ask me.

yeah, that's what i thought. there's no way the ac should make this much of an impact on a v6. i had somebody on another board say that it was probably the secondary fan and that it was normal. has anyone else experienced this?

it really depends on his mileage... there have been cases with v6 engines with alot of miles kind of bog out when the compressor kicks on. if theres not too many miles on it, then take it back to the dealer.

regardless of age or mileage.... the AC turning on should never bog down the engine to the point where its affects driving
