Default vtec!!!!!

alright so heres the deal.

i lost vtec (i think the solenoid is not working) i want to replace it but honda wants 150 bucks for it. before i fork over the dough where else can i get something like this? are their any (reputable) aftermarket solenoids that i should consider because of price or performance?
or am i stuck? i figure i should buy a new one and i also figure there are no reliable(if any) aftermarket versions

just looking for some advice b/c i have only been into this stuff for 2.5 years and dont know everything.

thanks,
andrew

Why are you so sure that it's the solenoid?

im not certain it is the solenoid but i assume it is. my oil is filled up so i shouldnt' have trouble building the pressure. i just figured that the soleoid is easy to replace (its sitting right their on the left side of the head) i have an
F22B1.

i do not know how much they weigh... i assume 300 -400 lbs for the block and the head and all the internal stuff.

you could check the internet but, you'll get varying responses. i.e my car wieghs anywhere from 2855 to 3201 lbs (97 accord ex standard)

if its throwing any check engine codes, vtec will not engage. get a code reader on there even if the light isnt lit, since the bulbs do burn out...

good idea shallow bay. i thought of that before but realized that i dont not know where to get one of these, also they seem like they would cost alot.
P1259 is what im expecting to get. btw i can tell vtec is malfunctioning b/c at full throttle after aboot 5200 rpm my car does not continue to accelerate. (ive come to understand that the constant acceleration is the 97 accord's version of vtec and not the same as the awsome B series or H series kick that all the kids love)
