Default oil filters....again....

i know this topic has been discussed to death....but i need a bit more insight... i just need info...and no comments about how it doesnt matter as long as i change oil/filter on schedule, etc.

as we all know, acura/honda has started using the 15400-plm-a0* oil filters:

15400-plm-a01 = filtech / toyo roki
15400-plm-a02 = honeywell / fram

i understand that most ppl prefer to use the filtech-made ones coz of the inferior materials in fram filters. but both of these are crazy expensive if bought from my local dealer (~ $9). http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ and http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/ sell these cheaper for around $5-$6.

now, http://www.drivewire.com also lists an even cheaper filter made by nippon. i havent heard any real insight on nippon's product quality. any of u know much about this brand?

i've also seen a nippon-made 15400-poh-305 filter, which drivewire says should work on my 95 accord. it is wider and shorter than the current fram/filtech filters. any feedback from anyone who has used this before?

dude, your worrying about something not worth worrying about. its an oil filter. its not going to extend the life of your engine or give you more horsepower. get a standard fram filter that fits your car, nothing special.

Many dealers will sell you OEM filters at a wholesale price ($5-$6) if you buy a case. Ask them and see if they bite !!!
