has anyone done this? I unscrewed all the screws (3-4) and there still seems to be something holding the tail light in place.

Most likely its the alignment pins that fit into plastic grommets.
As long your sure you removed all the nuts(not screws), try pulling
a little harder.

Speaking of clear/red taillights, one of my trunk lens faded
badly and wonder if anyone knows a way to order a replacement?
I know, buy another kit.

make sure you use those crank nut screw driver things lol. the ones that tighten/untighten one way, but doesnt the other way because i tried to unscrew the ones for the lights on the trunk lid with a 3 different kinds of wrenches and a plier; i scraped the nuts badly.

I think 6th gens are the worst looking cars with altezza's. It looks soooooo bad.

yes, i agree now that ive installed them. now i want those half red/half white ones. the only reason i didnt pick it in the first place because most people dont realize its different lights. they think its stock because its red. thats part of why i chose the altezzas in the first place
