Fuel Light - stupid question coming up...
Hi everyone
I have a 2000 LX Sedan 4cyl MT. For some strange reason I have never seen the "time to get fuel" light. Maybe mine is burnt out - but I just filled up today and put 15.1 gallons in and the light did not come on. For this fill the needle was on empty - Maybe I am just not gutsy enough to drive until it turns on for fear of running out of gas...
Should it come on as a normal part of start up (to make sure it works)?
How many gallons are typically left when the light turns on?
It isnt an end of the world problem - just thought someone out there could clear this mystery up for me.
Thanks
Geo

i have a 92 accord. i think most accords have a 17.9 gal tank. my car isnt here right now for me to check the owners manual to see what gal triggers the fuel light. ive rarely triggered the gas light. it doesnt come on when u start the car. if i remember ill check my owners manual later and get the exact gal to trigger the light. i can be sitting on the E and not get the light.
I've never had it come on with my '93 Accord and I've run it for about 50 miles after the E. I think you have to get it pretty dry to turn the light on. Plus, when you hit E, you still have like 2-3 gallons left. I wouldn't run my car dry unless you really think it's worth it. I don't think it's good for the fuel pump or other fuel components to run it dry.
