stop leak additive
Aloha! I've heard it's not good to use the Barr's Stop Leak in a Honda Accord because there's aluminum in that part of the engine. I'm a newbie at DYI'ing but I need stop the oil leak coming from the spark plug area.
Is there an additive I CAN use on my Accord that will not damage my engine? If not, Can a newbie do the require repair for that type of problem?
Throw me a bone.....

I personally try to avoid additives. They do not know what hole is good, what hole is bad. They will clogg everything. Oil passages, tubbing, etc. The best way to rid of a problem is to fix it.
Good luck!

I tried this product and it didn't work. In fact it made the problem worse, the car became underivable after I added it. These additives are also known for clogging the heater core. Prolly better just to have the leak fixed properly. Good luck!
fwiw, I feel there are some seal conditioner additives and detergent additives than can be of use in some circumstances, not that you can't get both of those things pre-mixed with certain oils (taking any potential "compatibility " issues out of the equation) in one form or another.
Something that's actually designed to "stop" or plug a leak on the other hand, coolant or oil, I'd try to avoid unless it's a last ditch effort and you really don't care about the car - though I know of people who've used radiator stop leak with success.
