If i replace the stock 80 alternato in my 2001 accord ex 4cyl 2.3L with a 180 amp alternator do i need to replace the stock battery also. I was already planning on updating the big three to at least 4 gauge also. Any suggestions for a good battery for this situation?
what are you refering to when you say the "big 3"...and what are you running that you need a 180 amp alt?
geeze dude, the big three is upgrading the grounds from battery to chassis, batt to block, and pos alt to batt
as for the battery get a red top optima. when doing the big three get atleast 1/0 gauge wire as the factory grounds are 4g and the alt is 6-4g. putting in 4g won't help get 1/0 at the min from the alt to batt I would get a 3/0g which will handle 200amps
ok, right now i'm getting a voltage dip because of the amp that i have powering my sub. would do all this solve it. I also need the extra amperage for a bigger amp that i am planning on getting.
