Default is this what I want?

Local shop gave me this quote:

Dc Sports Header
Apexi cat back exhaust system
AEM underdrive pulleys
AEM adjustable cam gear (intake)
Apexi AFC neo

The above parts installed and tuned would be $2738

thoughts?

I have an unmodded 1997 accord lx (f22b2) with 136000 miles on it

thats what I thought

I've heard (V)AFCs like the Apexi neo dont work well with OBDII, that you should go back to OBDI
is that true?

okay...ditch the powersteering.
you dont need the cam gear.

get a used exhaust system and header.

spend the money on a maxbore TB, 3" intake and/or delta regrind.
after that, a nice tune (in which the cam gear may come in handy)

there was a cb7 with a custom exhaust, dc header and a delta regrind camshaft and it put 130hp on the dyno.

thats how important a good tune is

so the guy got back to me with this:

AEM underdrive pulleys
AEM adjustable cam gear (intake only)
AFC Neo

This would include parts, install, and tune for $1588

any better worse than previous offer?

Yeah, i think you are wasting your money. Sorry to hate on your dreams of a fast accord, but if you talked to a real shop that builds fast cars and has enough clients to not have to push people parts. They will tell you the truth, and the truth is all that stuff is not even close to being worth the money youre spending on it. You might realistically be spending $300-$400 per horse power, and its your choice to do it but is that a fair price per horse power to you? I hate to see people buying parts that do nothing at all for their engine, or so very little that its not even worth the hundreds they spend on them.
