Default 20w50 why

please help i recently bought a 1998 accord EX V6 4-door and i recently changed the motor oil,i added 4.5 litters of 20w50 will this change affect performance and or the life span of my engine......Helpm Import novice

That oil is too thick for that engine... you should be running 5W30 (check your oil cap.)

20W50 is excessivly heavy for most piston engine passenger cars. It is harder for the oil pump to move and causes drag related losses inside the engine.

I use 20W50 in my RX-7, but the oiling system in that is very different then a piston engine car.
