Clutch? Acceleration Stinks!
Hello.
I have a 93 Accord that just got a recent tune-up (full). I bought her used from a guy last year who told me that the clutch was original (140K).
Symptoms.
Tach races to 4 - 5 before she starts to accelerate. I can only describe that she shifts long. Almost as if she's skipping.
My dad said transmission fuel. I'm checking that today. I've noticed it the past week or so.
At idle (or a red light), I almost feel as if I have to be careful in 1st so that it catches.
Ideas? Thanks!

Your dad probably meant transmission fluid and if you can smell something then your clutch is most likely gone or on its way out out......check a few things first but its probably a beat up clutch especially since you say its "skipping".....we say its "slipping" due to wear

Thanks for the points.
Thanks for the points.
Hope this gives you some general idea.

Your clutch will fail gradually since it is Hydraulic.....you won't have an automatic failure like was stated because in 89 clutches were cabled....but if it is the original clutch at 140k, and its slipping then its about time to get it changed...you can buy a replacement clutch kit from Autozone or something for like 89$....and a shop should be able to replace it for about $500
