Default Shorted something out, need suggestions

Long story short I left the illumination wire exposed on my stereo wiring harness. Found out months later when I started blowing fuses and eventually shorting something out. Now my parking lights will not turn off with the ignition off. I have to pull the fuse to turn them off and likewise I have to put the fuse in when i want to drive at night for dash and tail lights to work. Any ideas where to start on this one? Yes I am an idiot

Is there a write up on replacing this switch. Just want to know if I need to remove the steering wheel....hopefully not

nevermind, found a guide on autozone

1.

Disconnect the negative battery cable. If so equipped, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
2.

Remove the dashboard lower cover and knee bolster.
3.

Remove the upper and lower column covers.

Fig. 3: The upper and lower column covers must be removed to access the switch

4.

Remove the two screws securing either the headlight or wiper switch to the housing and slide the switch outward. Be advised these mounting screws are tight; use a screwdriver of the correct size to avoid damaging the screw heads. Remove the steering wheel if additional access to the screws is needed.
5.

Unplug the wiring connector.
6.

Installation is the reverse of removal. Make certain all wiring connections are tight and the harnesses are secured in place. If applicable, be sure to enable the SRS.

check the controller unit in the fusebox did you smell anything burning if so you might have damaged the harness.

Maybe a long shot, but what about the fuses under the hood?

well yeah I smelled burning and the stereo harness was burned up on the ground wire and the ilumination wire. I threw it out and bought a new one for it. What's the controller unit? Are we talking the fuse box under the dash or under the hood? I'm guessing under the hood since that's where the fuse is that I have to pull to turn off my parking lights
