Default Transmission problem 2000 Accord

I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX, automatic, 112k miles. When the car is cold it reves up in rpms before shifting (jumping) into second gear. This happens only from first into second, and there is no reving into any other gears, nor any reving after the first time. The tranny fluid has not been changed as often as it should have.

Any idea what the average cost of replacing a tranny is or what the cause of this might be?

you could try replacing the trans fluid, but I'm not sure that'll help at this point. It sounds like the trans isn't grabbing 2nd.

I think the estimated cost of a new tranny is about $1750-ish. (I think)

We replaced the fluid, twice actually.

Any other time shifting from 1st to 2nd is not an issue, only that first time in the morning.

The hubby wanted me to mention that the seals in the transmission where the axel on the right side is was leaking and he replaced the seal, but is now (a week later) leaking again; slow leak.
