Default 2006 Accord Purchase

Okay i need some advice and this could turn into a hot deal for the accord price. i ill explain below.

I currently own my 2004 Chevy Silverado LS 1500 . i have the pink slip. however i now commute to work and with gas prices climbing.....and filling the gas tank At Least ONCE A WEEK at $70.00 a fill up, and sometimes once on Monday and Once on Friday to make it back and forth. I started considering a different vehicle.

so i decided to look at a 2006 honda accord LX SE 4 cyl. I am looking to trade in my Silverado. Dealer says they will give me $14750.

Blue book on the truck at fair condtion is 14885. so not too bad there.

the 2006 Accord they will sell it to me for $19750 plus tax lic doc. (Again MSRP is $22,225.00) Pretty hot deal there..

based on my figures ( they could be higher this is just an estimate)
Silverado approx 17 MPG Honda accord approx 26 mpg approx 9 miles per gallon diff. SInce the accord gas tank is smaller

lets multiply 9 MPG X 17 Gallons = i get 153 Miles more miles on the accord per tank

Given if the tanks where both completely empty it would cost

to fill up the sliverado at $3.00 per gallon. would be $78.00
to fill up the accord at $3.00 per gallon it would be $51.00

Difference per week approx $27.00 X 4 weeks $108.00

The payment on the new accord will be $131.00 after trade in for 5 years.

my other consideration is that the silverado will be out of warranty in May of next year . the accord base warranty is 3 years.

what do you guys think?
is the accord worth going for? i am trying to keep the payments low. hence the se and not the hybrid.

also if you PM me i can let you know the dealer with this price in No cal SF bay Area

this is flawed since you dont fill up the cars at the same interval due to different tank sizes and mpg. also, it doesnt cost $51 to fill up the accord since you never empty out all 17 gallons anyway.

youre comparing 2 different cars.... if you dont need the truck... then get the accord.

that is correct you would not fill up the cars at the same time. filling up less in the accord and costing less. however hypothetically speaking if you did the cost i beleive would off set itself.

as stated, if you dont really need a truck for hauling purposes, get the accord. its a better 'investment'
