I was taught in the way of the old school, check the dip stick level 1st thing in the morning in the garage dead cold...worked on my '68 Dart, and other beaters--works just as well on my Accord and TSX too.

My level is always highest then, I've used the 5 min thing in the past and got burned once and added too much oil, bah!

The 5-min rule in the manual I believe is for getting the oil to operating temp so it will drain faster at an oil change. I do prefer to change my oil this way, but I do my last tweak of the oil once the car has sat over night. I like to have it at the bottom of the top dot just after an oil change, that seems to last me until the next change 5000mi later.

Anything between the 2 marks is acceptable...

I would record your oil first thing in the morning for a few weeks and see if you can spot a trend. When I use to beat on my Accord daily I would loose a qt. between changes, this appears normal to me for the F23. My buddy looses a bit more in his H22.
