I had a digital cap on my system and it worked perfectly i had over a 2 grand custom system in my car and had it for 2 yrs, my battery/alternator never gave me any probs and lights never dimmed even when i maxed it out....(had a 98 2dr ls)

Dude, technically, they work. On large draws from the system (i.e. long bass hits), the cap "speeds up" the flow to the amps. But, after that long bass hit, the cap needs to be recharged. Therefore, the alternator has to charge a battery, and a cap.
It's a sales technique that most people at best buy use, saying that you will kill your alternator without one, which is simply untrue.
I ran 1500W (actual watts, not "peak" shit) in my 1994 Protege, that came with a 65A alt. I had 4ga running as my MAIN power line. I did this for about 2 years. All I did was re-ground my battery with 2ga wire.
Result?
No dimming whatsoever. Nothing. No electrical/alternator problems.
Caps are BS for daily use. However, when doing SPL burps, they can help, but most associations ban the use of them.

no i didn't have a high output alternator just ran stock one (never changed) and reg battery.....and yea was over 2 grand about 2500+ mis. parts took me and my boy 2 days and 14 hrs to install, literally took my car apart and custom fit everything with spacers cuz kept hittin the glass, tweeter holes, mounts, etc......had custom woofer put it in the front and rear (component speakers) front and back of my 2 dr teg lol, 2 amps, woofer, box, and cap ALL Alpine except for cap.......the digi cap i got from bestbuy my boy hooked me up it was like $200 but got it for like 50 somethin (crazy discount lol)
