Hi,

My 2005 Accord rotors are heat damaged it seems. I want to replace them. Honda OEM sells them for $90 a piece. Are there any alternatives that are cheeper but just as good OR is the OEM way to go?

You just asked this same question last month. It was a thread that you started and titled "7th Gen Brakes and Rotors?" I guess I'm confused as to why you're asking this again. :dunno:

 

What do you use your car for? If it is just for daily driving, you could probably just go to AutoZone and get some blank rotors and call it a day. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with OEM, although they will be quite a bit more $$.

 

I wasn't satisfied with the answers. I also heard that Wagner rotors are supposed to be good.

Before spending 200 bucks just for the rotors I want to be sure. And thanks for keeping track of my posts. I never knew I had a personal assistant.

Okay...well there are plenty of threads listening alternatives. The last rotors I bought were NAPA...I had to return them after 2k miles because they warped for no apparently reason. I've had them on for 50k since the and I need new rotors now but am extremely easy on my brakes. Brembo blanks are nice but just like any other aftermarket rotor, some people have issues with them. My next rotors will be OEM Honda or Brembos.

You still should have had this done by the dealer...7th gens have been having rotor issues.

Thanks for the reply. I think I will go with OEM Honda Rotors but I sure as hell hope they will last longer then 20k. You mentioned Rotor issues for 7th gen. Are we talking about issues with the actual rotors (i.e. warping) or calipers? The reason I ask is because I heard that the calipers could be a problem as well.

Dealer wants $190 to cut the rotors and put new pads BUT they give 12 months warranty. I, on the other hand, feel I should put new rotors. I am having this dilema because I don't want to spend more then I have to - YET - I want to do the right thing.

 

I think you're a sucker if you pay the dealer a dime to replace rotors and you truthfully haven't driven hard on them or driven stupid. At least get them to pay labor or parts.
